THE WARDROBE EDIT
FIVE WAYS TO WEAR SOLID & STRIPED
Solid & Striped made its name in swimwear, but the range has grown into the pieces that surround it. The knit set worn on the walk back from the beach. The slip dress that carries into dinner. The skirt that goes over a bikini without much thought. That's the appeal. Everything works together, and none of it asks for a plan.

Lemon yellow, halter neck, pleats that start at the hip and keep going. The dress is the entire argument, which is why the sunglasses and flip-flops are black and unremarkable and stay that way. The basket is where it gets interesting: a printed silk scarf in reds and oranges knotted through the handles. Nice enough for lunch somewhere with a view, casual enough that you could have walked there from the beach.

Blue and white stripes, long sleeves, shorts cut close. The matching set is the least complicated decision of the season, and the knit keeps it from reading as sporty. The raffia tote in burnt orange is the one piece here that isn't obvious, warm against all that blue and enough to carry a towel and a book. Black sunglasses, black flip-flops, and no further additions.

The dinner dress. Fine straps, a mesh panel through the skirt so it moves, and a length that skims the sand without dragging in it. Heeled sandals in black, and a woven bag with enough texture to keep the whole thing from going flat. Wear it over a swimsuit at six, out to dinner at nine.

The bandeau ruches across the front and ties at the shoulders. The skirt is tiered cotton with drawstrings running down each side, so it can sit high or drop to the ankle depending on the day. Red sunglasses are the only colour in the frame and they change the register of the whole thing. Striped sandals, a straw tote, and enough room in it for whatever gets bought along the way.
